2nd EUROPADEL LUXEMBOURG LEAGUE (April-July 2019) [1]

Requirements

  • Be willing to play and enjoy padel, promoting the sport.
  • Have a competitive and convivial spirit and be willing to improve your level of play.
  • Full commitment to play the matches.
  • If you do not have a teammate, we will try to find you one on your behalf.
  • No club or federation membership is required[2].

How it works

  • Each team plays a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 6 matches with similarly-skilled rivals[3] between April and June. This implies an average of more than one match per week.
  • Matches are played at the best of 3 sets; the third set can be played as a super tie-break (10 points) in case there is not enough time to play a 3rd set. This decision is left at the discretion of the teams, who will need to reach an agreement.
  • The winner of a match will earn 2 points.
  • At the end of the league (after 2 months of competition):
  • The winning teams of each group are automatically promoted to a higher-level group.
  • Play-off matches will decide which teams are promoted, relegated or unmoved within successive group levels. To promote, a te
  • The teams ranking in 3rd place will secure their place in their group level.
  • The last team of each group will automatically be relegated to a lower-level group.
  • The week preceding the start of the tournament, the schedules and draws of all groups will be published at the EuroPadel Luxembourg website.
  • EuroPadel Luxembourg will provide the contact details of the competing teams so that matches can be scheduled between team players. The results will be updated on a weekly basis and will be available at the EuroPadel Luxembourg website.
  • At the end of the tournament, a closing diner will be organised in which the promotions and relegations between teams will be announced and the starting date of the next league will be revealed.

Calendar and place

  • The first league will start on April 15th, 2019 and will get to an end on July 15th. The play-off games and the dinner will take place late July.
  • Each match can be played at TC Garisart (Arlon, Belgium) or at CK Sport Kockelscheuer (Luxembourg). The teams must agree with each other on the date, time and place for each match. The booking of the padel courts is the responsibility of both teams. The players must pay the booked courts to the corresponding club (TC Garisart or CK Sport) prior to the start of the match. Before the tournament kick-off date, EuroPadel will disclose the agreed prices with both TC Garisart and CK Sport.

RULES OF THE EUROPADEL LUXEMBOURG LEAGUE

  • Email will be the main communication tool between organisers and players, except in case of emergency (in such case a phone call to any organiser is justified). The organisers email address is [email protected]

  • The players must book the padel courts in advance by reaching out by themselves with the club in which the match is scheduled. The price of the court must be split among all the players.
  • All players must show up 10 minutes before the starting time of a match. It is important to start matches on time.
  • A match cannot be cancelled or rescheduled during the 24 hours prior to a match. If such thing happens, the confronting team will automatically earn a victory with a score of 6-0, 6-0.
  • If a team does show up late to a match without informing the opposing team and/or the organisers on time, this team will lose the match with a score of 0-6, 0-6. In the event such a situation happens again, the team will be terminated from the league (that would be considered as a lack of respect for the other players as well as for the organisers).
  • Matches are played at the best of 3 sets; the third set can be played as a super tie-break (10 points) in case there is not enough time to play a 3rd set. This decision is left at the discretion of the teams, who will need to reach an agreement. The winner of a match will earn 2 points. A super tie-break is won by the first team scoring 10 points, without the need to have a 2-point difference. If both teams have initially agreed to play a 3rd set - rather than a super tie-break - and then the playing time comes to an end, the existing result at that moment will determine the winning team.
  • The organisation reserves its own right to implement corrective actions if it finds out that a team’s level of play is much higher than the originally disclosed when signing up to the tournament. If the organisers consider that such action was deliberate, the team could be banned from participating in the next league.
  • The teams cannot be modified after the competition has started. Replacement of a player within a team will only be allowed in case of injury or, as an exception, if there is an imperative reason and provided that the organisers and the opposing team are informed about the replacement well before the start of the next match. The result of such a match will only be valid if the opposing team confirms - before the match takes place - that the replacement has been communicated. Otherwise, the match will be played but the team replacing the player will automatically lose the match 0-6, 0-6.
  • If a player gets injured in a way that he needs to be replaced more than once, the team will be allowed to play all matches with a replacement player, but in order not to distort the group´s ranking, such team will get all its matches lost by a 0-6, 0-6.
  • The league will be composed of different group levels and teams will be allocated based on their level of play (already known by organisers or following the team´s indication when signing up). At the end of the league (after 2 months of competition):
  • The winning teams of each group are automatically promoted to a higher-level group.
  • Play-off matches will decide which teams are promoted, relegated or unmoved within successive group levels. To promote, a team ranked in 2nd place of a group will need to beat the team ranked in 4th place of the immediately higher-level group; if not, both teams will stay in their original group levels.
  • The teams ranking in 3rd place will secure their place in their group level.
  • The last team of each group will automatically be relegated to a lower-level group.
  • During play-offs replacements are not permitted, even in case of injury or justified absence.
  • In case rain is expected, teams should do their best to play the match on the scheduled day and time by trying to book a court at TC Garisart, where covered padel courts are available. It is the responsibility of teams to coordinate everything (including the need to cancel an existing booking or make a new one). Rain should not be an obstacle.
  • The League Sports Committee members are Carles Giner, Ladislao Checa, Álvaro Garrido and Marc Bové, who will decide how to fix any problem that may arise during the tournament (rules, use of W.O., play-offs, etc.).
